Chinese Food Fight

Kind of sounds like a before and after category on Wheel of Fortune.

Today I dumped off the kids at school summer camp because I had a ton of running to do. I had stopped in to school to just take care of a few oddities and it was Austin's idea to stay and Tommy was game so I was free from them for the afternoon.

I decided to have lunch at my favorite little Chinese restaurant that is a borderline dive. I love the egg drop soup there and the one little Korean waitress just loves the boys so we frequent it often. Well she wasn't there today. A young probably college aged student with blonde hair that was dyed pink underneath her top layer was my waitress. She was taking great care of me and I was savoring my egg roll and egg drop soup. Soon the owner and her start arguing and the waitress was being really really loud!!! All about the girls hours were cut because they hired their daughter-in-law and she's a terrible worker and on and on and on.

I couldn't believe that they would just argue like that in front of the customers. After about 5 minutes they finally sat down on the other side of the room but I could still hear the waitress clearly spouting off the same things over and over. How she's been there 2 1/2 years and her feelings are really hurt and woe is her. I couldn't believe she was talking to the owner like that. I was waiting to hear her get fired.

My entree sat in the window forever while they argued. Finally another waitress got it for me and some poor soul sat on hold while they argued. They had hung up by the time the owner did pick up the phone.

I was just disappointed because I love that place, and the other waitress apologized that I had to witness that and just said they are all frustrated and that the owner can be really loud. I just saw a spoiled brat waitress who has no common sense. You just don't go off on your boss in public!

I did get an interesting fortune in my cookie though. It said I will help a dear friend in need. Wonder what that could be about? Let me know if any of you are in need of help or something.

So it was needless to say an interesting experience and I think I am afraid to go back soon. I was ready for the rice to go flying! And hours later I'm left wondering if they are still arguing as the waitress wasn't relenting at all by the time I left. SOY!

I'm sorry to hear about your unruly waitress, however glad you understand them. Every time I go to a Chinese restaurant NO one speaks English.

I can't believe they did not go into the back of the restaurant to hash it out.

Jill - The waitress was American, the owner is Chinese? and is very hard to understand. She too was trying to keep her voice down. Still crazy. But I'm loving my leftovers for dinner tonight.

Wow. That made for an interesting and uncomfortable dining experience. Maybe you can just start getting take out from there :)

I am the dear friend in need, you already promised to help me out! No going back on that promise!

Lauren is all yours:)

I think that exchange would have been interesting to watch and listen to! I'm one of those people:)

Jill and Dawn, what's with no exclamation marks?

Dawn this might make you laugh. Havent you ever heard that you are supposed to add "in bed" after every chinese fortune cookie. Really it works after all of them. Makes them very funny. try it.

LMAO Lisa!! I forgot all about that! Too darn funny!

Barbara - Good idea on the take-out, why did I not think of that before?

Amy - Ooh boy! Maybe I could wear my hockey gear for added protection when I take Lauren out driving. ;)

Sherri - It was "New China" on Bay & McCarty. I love China Express on Euclid in Bay City. Haven't been there in years though.

Hmmm not sure I've been there before. I LOVE the manderian house in the OLD Hampton township mall....that's about the only thing left in the mall....on Center Ave on the East side of Bay City!!! YUM...Adam is not a chinese food fan, so we don't go often. DANG

Only in America could something like this happen, right??? Glad you took a little time to pamper yourself after what seems to be a very fast pace summer vacation.

Sherri- I've never eaten at the Mandarin House but I would love to go in the Old Hampton Mall. I did some underage driving in that parking lot long long ago.

Julie - It was nice. And yep, the summer is going by quickly. July is going in fast forward it seemed. Well, seemed so until yesterday. This week has been dragging. I'll live.

lol Dawn- sounds like a fab dinner. I am not sure if I would have been upset or felt bad for them. Depends on how bad I wanted the food.
Hmmm am I the friend in need? lol.

Egg drop soup, nasty looking!!! UGH! LOL, glad you enjoyed it though.

I am with Amy, I totally would have enjoyed watching and then blogged about it of course ;)

Deb - Their egg drop soup is different and AWESOME. It's not all stringy yellow nastiness. It's the only place where I'll eat it. I know you would be so into the convo. You'd probably butt right in with your 2 cents worth too. ;)

Debbie said...

uhhh, should I be offended by that!? LOL.

I'd be all 'my food being delayed will be reflected your tip missy!" LMAO

Dawn said...

Haha, yeah Deb. I was thinking that when I left my meager tip. Which waitress gets this money?

I love the little dive food places. It sounds like an interesting dining experience :)

Thanks KB, yeah some people are scared of dives but the life experience lover in me likes them. I've become bratty in my old age though and find myself sticking to chains for the most part though. The best food is usually in bars I've find, especially burgers and onion rings, pizza. All that junk food that's horrible for you.
