The Haircut

So as Joe says I live a "transparent" lifestyle and yesterday was the "the haircut day" and I've been talking up this haircut for over a month now. The long hair was getting to be too much to handle every day with blow drying and straightening forever so it had to go. I always do this after having kids. I went very short a year after Austin was born and decided to grow it out one more time before getting old and needing to keep it short. i.e. 31. ;) I don't know why I thought 30 was old but now that I'm 31 I was clearly wrong. Maybe 40 is the "new old." Make it 60 actually. My beautician did a beautiful job cutting it, it looks exactly as I pictured it. But I know it's the wrong style for my face shape. But then again, my poor hairdresser has the worst job in the world because I'm never happy with how my hair looks.

And now I present to you SpongeBob Squareface. My 8th grade haircut minus the poof bangs.

It's cute! I have not been brave enough to cut my hair shorter than my shoulders since probably 7th grade. We are headed to the fair tonight, wish you guys were here!

Thanks Amy & Kelly - It'll take some getting used to but overall it's fine.

Kelly - I guess it was about a year ago then that we met. Don't get suckered in by any crazy carnies! Would love to meet up with you again someday. I'm sure we will!

Dawn, it is cute!! that's the haircut i want, but my hair is too curly and stubborn and frizzy to do it! i'm jealous!!
(and i cut my hair short for sam's birth, too and then when he started grabbing it with his tone and not being able to let go!! i think it's time to chop again!) you've inspired me! :)

Sorry Dawn, I don't think the pictures do you justice. Much, much better in person!

Love the new doo! I, too, had long hair when Malayna was born and have gotten shorter and shorter over the past few years. It's definitely much easier!

Glad I can inspire you Ellen. Tommy was a hair grabber and loved when I'd wear pony tails. It was kind of his lovey until he got doggy.

Julie - Thanks, I agree. You should see the billion other hideous pictures I took before actually getting a decent one. I loathe the camera these days.

Sheila - That was all my motivation, ease.

I love it!!! It looks beautiful and suits you very well.

I remember when I was a kid I thought 30 was ancient!! Now that I'm closer to 40, even 60 seems young....:)

Thanks Barbara - I guess with the age thing I'm just realizing that you're only as old as you think you are. However the 69 year old Mom of the toddlers that just died leaving them orphans is going a bit too far.

You look fantastic! I personally know that it takes awhile to get used to something like - I once decided that I want really short black hair... and every time I look at my pictures I ask WHY?! Why did I think that my pale skin and long face would go well with SHORT BLACK hair? Needless to say it took years and numerous coloring jobs to recover from it. You on the other hand look great! Just stay away from black =)

I'm always the last to post. I get no computer time in the summer.
I saw you before I read your blog and I love the new hair cut.
I think your face shape is fine as well.

Thanks Daiva - Uh yeah, I think I'll stay away from the black hair. But hey you have to live a little so at least you can say you did it.

Jill - Coming from a pro stylist I take your compliments to heart. Thank you. 5 days later I am liking it. And it's so easy!
