Med Express Update

Well Joe brought home 1/2 a pharmacy practically. I'm really glad Joe took him in. They gave Tommy a strong antibiotic shot in both legs and 300 mg of Motrin and besides achy legs now, he looks much perkier and his fever is gone. Hooray! He was even hungry enough for a stop at McDonald's on the way home. The doc says it's an acute sinus infection. Grr!!! He should have been on an antibiotic all week! The doc also said no hockey for a week. :( Oh well, I just want him better.

So what he has at home is continuing the tylenol and motrin for fever, flonase, claritin, zithromax, and mucinex. And bad news, Tommy is horrible about taking medicines. So not cool. It's going to be a battle. But at least I feel like we are on the up and up. Just got the first rounds of meds in and lo and behold he quickly pukes them up. Oh fun fun! Lord Help Me! How do you get better when you puke up your medicine?

Oh and above all that he still has a classic case of the flu. Next year he'll be getting a flu shot for sure.

Sickly Son

Poor Tommy has been battling some nasty virus since Monday. Joe stayed home with him T,W, and I stayed home today. He has this fever that just won't go away. He just woke up from a nap and was burning up. We hadn't given him anything since 4 am and I was hoping he had turned the corner but apparently not. The poor kid has ups and downs according to how the fever is. Such misery. I guess I'm thankful and just pray that Austin doesn't get it as fevers scare me with him and his seizure risk. The doctor today said it could take 7-10 days to get through him. That is nuts! He is starting to get worried about his hockey semi-final on Sunday. The team just needs to win that game and then they go to the finals at the Joe Louis Arena on March 14th. You can bet we are crossing our fingers for this win on Sunday. Tommy said today I don't care how sick I am, I'm gonna play on Sunday! I sure hope he is better by then. I think he will, I can't imagine this thing lingering on.

I don't think Tommy has been sick this long since his bout with pneumonia when he was 2. I'm ready for him to be better, this fever stuff is for the birds. Although I enjoyed my extra rest today, I'd rather be working with him healthy. So please send some healthy vibes our way!

$100 Dinner Dance 2009

The Papesh's weren't as prosperous this year but I'd have to say it was another memorable event! The Bojo's had their mojo going as they were in the last five for the big money, they were the 117th ball drawn for $150. The SE staff also had a big year getting out on the 118th for $200. The 120th ball wins $3000 so all you can say is so close. Back in 2006 was Joe's and my big chance getting out on the 4th ball from the end for $150. Last year we were out on the 10th from the end, another close year but we won $300+ on 50/50 raffles. Last night we were just donators which is cool as it all helps my great St. Elizabeth School. It is always a great time.

The band was obviously a country/western band.  The 25 Cent Beer Band played until about 12:20 and the party was still going strong.  They were awesome!  Everyone had such a great time.  The only crazy thing is we probably did the electric slide for more than half of the fast dances.  I guess the guests love to line dance.  I do too but I would like some variety too.  Time for a new craze to hit for us people that are too old to appreciate the Soulja Boy!  I guess the Cupid Shuffle is easy enough but not quite in the country/western genre.  Great night though! And I only had to take Extra Strength Tylenol twice for my achy breaky back.  The slippers saved me.

Random funnies

Here's some corny pics for you. Enjoy!

Crazy Hair Day ~ Something about Austin just spooks me with that orange hair. My students said it was a mad scientist look.

The beloved MacBook unveiling. Cheese!

The perpetual pack-rat's past pairs of glasses. Such a nerd. Don't the boys look like elderly men with those on? Just makes me laugh.

Hope you enjoyed.

Forbidden fruit

After all my griping for a year about Joe and his MacBook I was finally convinced to take a bite out of Apple.  I am typing this post on my brand new MacBook.  All I know is this laptop better last longer than my Acer which croaked after about 2 years.  Tommy is psyched though as he has been given the Acer, complete with random BSOD's.  Joe and Tommy are a bit more excited about this than I am but it's cool.  I have a presentation with my students to give at the next Home & School meeting in early March, so I really did need something as the Acer was totally unreliable.  It just feels a bit indulgent.  Happy Valentine's Day to me I guess.  One thing I am totally excited about is not getting yelled at for going to spyware sites unknowingly for my smiley's.  I guess Mac's are not susceptible to viruses and other crap.

Joe photographed the unboxing and would like me to post pics.  I will try and get to them tomorrow.  Too tired tonight.

Double Surprise

Yesterday the coworkers all got together and threw me a shower at lunch. It was of course disguised as a Valentine's Day gathering and I had no idea what was really going on until the hockey shower kind of tipped me off that this was possible as we've NEVER had a Valentine's Day lunch. I wasn't sure but it got me thinking and small events over the course of the morning really clued me in. It was nice because they got parent's to come in and cover the classes so we had an extra 1/2 hour together.

So yeah, sorry Jill, Amy, Julie, and all the other great SE staff that it wasn't quite the surprise you hoped it would be. But surprised or not, I am completely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity and goodwill to me and the family.

It was funny because Amy called me Thursday night all sweety after reading my blog "ooh, they threw you a shower, how nice" when really she was sizzling inside because they had beat them to the punch. Same with Jill & Julie later. I hope I haven't disappointed you.

They totally spoiled me, getting me a new high chair, (our's hath been destroyed by two younger pigs) a new bath seat, a picture frame where you can put the baby's hospital bracelet, and some other little goodies, along with $100 to Babies R Us!!! WOW!!! Totally spoiled.

Thank you again gang! It was awesome! The food was great and it really is nice when everyone can get together for lunch. I really do have the best job with the best coworkers all around!

A Surprise Shower

The hockey Mom's all got together and threw a shower for me tonight. Joe was in on it as he had to get me to the rink somehow. So he cooked up the story of having to work late so I had to take Tommy to hockey practice. It worked out nicely and the girls put on a nice spread of hors d'oeuvres, cake, and punch. I was very surprised and it was a nice gathering while the kids had practice.

They got us a Pack-n-Play which will be perfect for all our travel hockey hotel stays. :) They also got us some cute outfits, blankets, onesies, and that kind of good stuff. I am really starting to feel like we are indeed going to be ready come March 13th!

And can I just say how spoiled I am? It's the 2nd surprise party for me in the past year. ;)
