My Hate/Hate Relationship with cooking

Okay, so I'm a horrible cook and don't like to cook. The guilt and shame associated with being a woman who can't cook caused me to try and fake it and even learn but now that I'm older I just say heck with it and am not ashamed to say that I seriously lack any culinary credibility and am happy to have a gourmet hubby. I still like to eat, just not cook.

That being said I have a story. I can't even boil a darn egg apparently!! I am one of the parent helpers for Austin's Easter party in school today and they didn't want to give me too difficult a task with the new baby and all so his teacher just asked if I could supply the class with 2 dozen hard boiled eggs for decorating. Sounds simple right? I went online to just find out how long to cook them in the boiling water. Little did I know that it was a many step process and even should have used "aged" eggs to get them to peel better, yada, yada. What a joke. Cold water, just boiling, then off the heat, then cold water again. Sure a few steps but simple right? I swear I followed them to a tee! I made extra just to make sure they were okay, well I made flippin' soft-boiled eggs instead of hard-boiled! For Pete's sake I can't even boil a dang egg! I suck eggs! GRRR!!!

Funny! Cooking is definitely a skill and one that you lack, but you make up for it in other areas:)

Soft boiled? Huh?

Soft boiled is good - if that was what you wanted.

I agree with Amy. It may be a skill you lack, but you have so many other talents.

You are so funny!!!
I must try to help you out here. I did watch you make an egg for your children before and they turned out.

And yes Jill, I can make scrambled & over-easy eggs. Thank goodness for that.

I needed a giggle tonight! Rough day! :(

BTW--I hate cooking too! I just do it because I don't want Luke to starve!! ;)

Awe Ellen, I'm sorry you had a rough day. Have you already had your spring break? My boys are on break this week now before Easter. And glad to hear you won't let Luke starve, I'm in the same boat, just enough for survival. Thank goodness for the microwave oven and Pop Tarts.

Dawn I can't boil an egg either. I stink at cooking!

Thanks for the support Renee, is that why your family is all skinny? ;)

Thanks for the shoulder, Dawn! I just had some tough things said to me from Sam's PT on friday that i don't know if I'm trying to avoid or if she's really off base. God, this sucks!! It's been one of those months! :(
And no, we have two more weeks before break starts. It seems to be late this year...we usually have it with Good Friday starting off vacation. We have 3 days of lovely state standardized testing on Tuesday, Wed. and Thurs. of nest week. And also last tues. Ugh! And of course more in May...it never ends!
Enjoy that sweet little angel for me!! :) I'm sending a cheeky kiss for her! :)

You do always have to make Tommy's eggs because Joe doesn't make 'em like Mom does!

Ellen - So sorry again. That has to be tough to hear. Hopefully the PT is wrong, they can be you know. I hope Monday is treating you well.

Deb - Thanks and yeah you're right but even Joe can make scrambled now. He's treading into my turf.

Funny! We all have our strengths I guess. I'm sure you excel in many other areas :)

Barbara - I suppose that is right. Jack of all trades, master of nothing maybe?

You could have used the cookbook I gave you a few years ago.

Renee - What? I have a cookbook? What's a cookbook? ;)

LOL! I agree with you on this. I am not much of a cook at all!

Thanks KB - Glad I'm not alone on this.
