My Date with Austin

Austin is fascinated with all trains but Thomas the Train in particular of course. So when I got an email from SVSU saying they were having a "premiere performance" of Thomas & Friends Live today I snatched up the best tickets I could. The show was great and Austin loved it. We were in the 5th row of the tiny 500 seat theater.

Of course he wasn't happy that it was just he and I going and even when we were leaving for the show today he was crying that he didn't want to go. I just don't get him sometimes. So I told him we'd try it and if he didn't like it we'd leave. Well not even half way into the first song he turns and says "I like this show" and I asked if he still wanted to leave and he say "no, we'll leave when it's done." I have to say too it was an excellent show, it was a musical. If any of you have Thomas fans in your home, I'd look and see if it's coming your way on it's 50 city tour in the next 6 months. I thought it was better than The Wiggles Live & Sesame Street Live, of course being in such a small venue probably helped.

You can read about it here if you are interested in the how's and why's of my tiny university getting the premiere of this big show.

Needless to say we've had our share of Thomas movies run through the DVD player since we've been home. I'm glad we did something special just for Austin even if he didn't want to do it at first. That's my contrary Mary!

What are you feeding your kids, lately? He looks so grown up in that picture!

Glad you guys had fun!

You must have been a little bit like the 'engine that could' with facing the winds and snow today going to SVSU!
I agree with Amy - Austin looks so grown up. Another case of "mom knows best" and good that mom pushed to go to the show. Too bad we don't have school tomorrow. Would love to hear what he has to say about it himself.

I'm glad you two had a great time.
Tiffany and her friends would have loved to go to this. (Yes I'm serious!)

Hope you are doing well. I noticed that it has been 1 year since Autumn passed. Are you doing okay?

So cute....I am glad he had a good time and your crazy driving in that wind yesterday! Adam and i both got stuck in our driveway! Then my van stalled b/c Adam had driven it to Reese and it was packed with snow under the hood! Gosh it was ugly! But glad you guys made it and the show was great! Take care! : )

Thanks for the comments girls! I don't think I've been feeding him any differently but after looking at his hot lunch bill I've noticed he is often getting an extra milk. Maybe that is the deal?

The roads were horrible and the walk into Curtiss Hall was treacherous but definitely worth it. We live in MI, can't let the weather ruin important events like seeing Thomas. Thankfully I live in town so I don't have to deal with the country mess like Sherri. I may think differently otherwise.

Amy H - Thanks for remembering, I'm doing fine. It was a nice quiet day at home of remembrance. She was definitely on my mind more this month and I suppose that will always be true come December.

Jill - The show is ending it's run this summer at the Palace. Something tells me we might be going again if Tiffany and her friends want to hitchhike down with us. (You can watch the baby) ;) Tommy has said he wants to go to this show, now I feel bad that we didn't get him a ticket yesterday. I just didn't think he was into Thomas.
