The Reese Homecoming Parade

We had the local parade tonight. Every year our school has a little float and I get to walk along and get some exercise. It's fun. Sunday is another parade, much longer long but we won't be able to make it. So I dodged that bullet. I was a little tired by the end and Austin had to pee about 1/2 way through it. Thankfully he made it and went behind the elementary school.

The boys had a great time waving their flags and throwing candy. Sometimes I think it's super dangerous for the crowds. Our kids throw some line drives at people. Someone is going to lose an eye from a sucker stick one day. ;)

Just another sign that fall is here. Another Homecoming come and gone. You know Joe and I kind of hit it off on Homecoming. At the dance after the football game I remember dancing with many guys during slow songs and finally after finishing a dance and the fast dances starting back up Joe approaches me and says something along the lines of, "you know you are the hardest person to get a dance with, next slow song will you dance with me?" And so I did and it was "November Rain" the longest song ever. I remember locking eyes with him. It was certainly magical. I know there had been a little flirting before that moment between us in the first month of school but that was when I really decided, I like Joe Papesh and I wanted him to be my boyfriend. And lucky for me he still is. 16 years together! Oy vey! Sorry if I already told you that story, I don't think I have though.

Ah, the memories that keeps love alive. It was a fun walk, and I agree, we had some serious throwing going on there! Even Austin was getting the candy to the sidewalk.

Forgot to mention: loved Tommy's USA song. Fitting for the theme of homecoming et al. Maybe Tommy could write the St. Elizabeth school song.

Too cute. love the pictures. I walked in the parade this year too. I am in REFA (Reese Elementary Family Association) and we made a float this year (last night, LOL)...that is a tiring walk, but it was fun to see everyone! Our kids thought they needed to throw a fist full of candy to every kid....ahhh But they had fun and that's all that matters! I saw Joe and your dad but not you guys. Adam said he saw you! I saw Stacy with their youngest, and I put a necklace around him! Too cute! My camera wasn't working, so I didn't get pics, but many were taken, so if any come acrost with all the REFA e-mails, I will have to post them. Bryce was on the float with his friends throwing candy too! Take care! Darn Reese for loosing the game! UGH and BRRRR

Haha Julie, yeah both the boys apparently like to sing. That makes me happy though. It was a good time. Always is.

Sherri - I was surprised we didn't see you. No wonder, I didn't get a chance to see the float either. Cool though. Every year the parade gets bigger and bigger and I wonder if someday there will be no one left to simply watch it. ;) hehe. Our candy rationing worked pretty well this year as the boys both had candy to throw at the end of the parade. Joe spent a fortune and I said there is no way we are chucking all this today. So I saved the good stuff for myself and got rid of the junkie candy. Hey, there's always Halloween. And yeah, definitely post some pics of your float.

Looked like so much fun!
I can't believe how big Tommy is now. So not the little boy that I met years ago.

How funny that Austie was throwing the candy all the way to the side walk. That boy is so gifted!

Such a cute story about you and Joe! Love...

Thanks Jess! The years certainly go by quickly, faster every year it seems.

Hey you! I requested an invite to your preggo blog?! Does no reply from you mean I didn't get accepted? :(

Oops, sorry Jess. You've got mail. I didn't see I had new mail on that other post. Of course you would be accepted.

November Rain, lol! The good ol days! We have those parades here too - my fav is the marching band :)

What do the kids around there wear to the dance? The town I live in now is pretty laid back and they do a theme 'hawain, glow in the dark, jungle' but the town I grew up in go all out with prom like dresses - its crazy! I was in town on Saturday and everyone was out taking pictures in fancy dresses and tux's for homecoming. Poor parents having to pay for that and prom, lol!

Thanks Kiera Beth & Deb

Deb - It used to be informal, i.e. after the game. Now it's Saturday night and I believe it's semi-formal. So yup, it's gone ritzy. I think we're lucky we have boys. Cheaper right?
